The Man of Yesterday

I walked on endless roads for long
I have seen, felt and done it all
But somewhere still there is a longing
To hold the hand that slipped away

I remember the light was so bright
The shimmer had once caught my eye
But now I stare at the sun for hours
And still don't seem to be so satisfied

I look at my grim and aging face today
In hope to find the man of yesterday
But all is left are some shattered pieces
Which I still try to mend in vain

I still walk down the memory lane
To see you and your smiling face
But as I look beside at the empty chair
I blame the man of yesterday

I wish that he could see like me
That you were alone and trembling
Now he has changed but what is left for me
Broken pieces,regret and misery

I wonder if I could turn the hourglass
And escape this moment so melancholy
But who am I trying to blame
For I'm the man of yesterday

I walked on endless roads for long
I have seen, felt and done it all
But somewhere still there is a longing
To hold the hand that slipped away
